Girl Scouts of Singing Sands is committed to Adult Education for all volunteers. Volunteer Trainers who have completed the Train-the-Trainer course and consultants in specialized areas provide various training sessions and workshops.
Volunteer Training Coordinators in coordination with local trainers, plan the training calendar. Dates and locations are set up strategically throughout the council. All sessions are open to registered adults and girls working on the Leader-In-Training program. If classes in your Association are not convenient for you, feel free to choose training in another Association. Be aware that all training times will be according to the time zone in which they are held.
The first step in new leader training is to complete New Leader Orientation. Please contact your Service Unit Manager for information in regard to this training. It is recommended that you complete Basic Leader Training I, II and III in consecutive order as shown in the chart below. However, understanding that schedules sometimes conflict, it is permissible, with the approval of your Service Unit Manager to take these trainings out of order as long as the trainings that were skipped are taken as soon as possible.
It is acceptable for a troop to send someone other than the primary leader to Outdoor Training as long as the primary leader has completed the Basic Leader Trainings. It is a requirement that Outdoor I and II trainings are completed prior to enrolling in Outdoor III (Troops 'N Tents).
